Privacy Policy

1. What data we collect

About the parent (account owner):

• your email address, your name if you enter it, and your password (stored only in encrypted form),
• subscription details: plan, number of children on the subscription, status, trial and billing dates, and your Stripe customer ID. We never see your card number; Stripe handles it,
• messages you send to our support.

About the child (entered by the parent):

• a first name or nickname, and the school grade. A real name is not required; a nickname is enough,
• learning progress: which lessons the child watched and finished, answers to questions, and lesson ratings,
• questions the child asks the AI helper (“Ne razumem”, “I don't understand”) and the part of the lesson the question is about.

Technical data:

• device and browser type, IP address, access times and error reports,
• app usage data (for example, which screens were opened and which buttons were tapped), used to improve the app.

We do not ask for a child's date of birth, photo, address, school or contact details.

2. Why we use data, and on what basis

• To provide the service (performance of a contract): the account, lessons, progress tracking, the AI helper and subscription billing.
• To send you important account and subscription messages (performance of a contract): confirmations, invoices, payment warnings and changes to the terms.
• To keep Znazna secure and fix errors (legitimate interest): preventing abuse and tracking errors.
• To understand how the app is used and improve it (legitimate interest, or consent where the law requires it).
• To meet legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records.

We use children's data only for learning inside Znazna. We do not show children ads, send them messages or build profiles of them for marketing.

3. AI helper and voice

When a child asks the AI helper a question, we send the AI provider only the content of the lesson the question is about and the question itself. We do not send the child's name or any account details. We may store answers so that the next child asking the same question gets an answer instantly.

The voice in the lessons is generated from the lesson text. We send no data about the child to the voice provider.

4. Who we share data with

We do not sell data and we do not share it with advertisers. We pass it only to service providers who process it on our instructions and only as far as they need to:

• Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage,
• Vercel: hosting of the website and the app,
• Stripe: payment processing and invoices,
• Twilio SendGrid: emails sent by the app,
• Google Workspace: support email,
• PostHog: app usage analytics,
• Sentry: error tracking,
• Anthropic: AI answers to children's questions,
• ElevenLabs: lesson voice.

We may also disclose data when required by law or by a competent authority, to protect the rights and safety of users and Znazna, or to a buyer if the company is sold or merged, subject to the same protections.

5. Transfers outside Serbia

Some of these providers process data in the United States or other countries outside Serbia and the European Union. In those cases we rely on safeguards provided by law, such as standard contractual clauses, so that your data stays adequately protected.

6. How long we keep data

• Account and child data are kept while the account exists. If you cancel your subscription, the data stays so you can pick up where you left off.
• When you ask us to delete your account, we delete the account and your children's data within 30 days. Copies in backups disappear in the regular backup deletion cycle.
• Payment records and invoices are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require.
• Technical and analytics data are kept for a limited time and then deleted or anonymised.

7. Security

Data is sent encrypted (HTTPS), access to the database is restricted by rules that let each family see only its own data, and passwords are stored only in encrypted form. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risks as low as possible. If a data breach affects you, we will notify you as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under the Serbian Law on Personal Data Protection and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• get a copy of your data and your child's data,
• correct inaccurate data,
• ask for your data and account to be deleted,
• restrict or object to processing,
• receive your data in a portable format,
• withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent.

Send your request to podrska@znazna.com from your account's email address. We will reply within 30 days.

If you believe we process your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (poverenik.rs) or, if you live in the EU, with the supervisory authority in your country.

9. Cookies and local storage

The app uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember your settings. The app cannot work without it.

We use similar technologies for usage analytics (PostHog) and error tracking (Sentry). We do not use cookies for advertising or for tracking you across other websites.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will tell you about important changes by email or in the app. The date of the last change is always shown at the top of the page.
